Answer the following questions honestly:

1.) Has anyone in your family complained that you’ve been spending too much money?

2.) Are you surprised with your credit card bill each month which exceeds the amount you originally expected?

3.) Do you have more shoes and clothes in your wardrobe than you could ever possibly need?

4.) Do you own every possible new gadget before it even has the time to collect dust on the shelf of the shop?

5.) Do you tend to purchase things you didn’t need until you saw them?

If you answered to more than two of the questions above, then you definitely are an impulse spender and tend to indulge yourself in retail therapy.

This isn’t a positive thing, as it will prevent you from saving for the important things such as houses, cars, vacation or retirement. This is why it is very important that you set some financial goals and try to resist spending money on things that are really not needed in the long run.

Impulse spending won’t only put your finances under pressure but your relationships too. In order to overcome the problem, the first thing you will need to do is to learn how to separate what you want from what you truly need.

Advertisers keep harassing you with products they want you to buy all the time. The best option is to give yourself a cooling-off period before you buy anything that hasn’t been planned for.

For example, when you go shopping, try to make a list and take exactly enough cash to pay for what you have planned to buy. Leave all your credit cards at home.

If you see something you think you really like and might need, give yourself two weeks to decide if it is really something you need or if it is something you can easily do without. By following this simple solution, you will fix your financial fences as well as your relationships.
